Jake Ren
Born in Maplewood, Minnesota for the passport, raised in Shanghai.
Undergraduate degree in Film and Media Studies at Tufts University, minor in Spanish.
Jake is a filmmaker, photographer, and writer living in Shanghai and Boston.
As a filmmaker, Jake has directed, shot, and edited documentaries, short narrative films, and fashion campaigns. He is currently working on a project with one of his best friends.
Jake is a tutor for the Tufts Prison Initiative, which offers university classes inside medium facility prisons in Massachusettes. He also volunteers for the elderly at a government subsidized apartment at Symphony Hall.
In 2025, along with designer/friend Joshua In, Jake launched A1&A2 zine, a zine which features two writers per edition, presented in two physically separate parts. Each part contains an essay about someone the writer finds important—a friend, a partner, someone to make amends to, someone to receive an apology from—accompanied by a series of artifacts from that relationship.
In his free time he likes to go to the park and talk to strangers.

笑语从事的媒介包括电影，摄影，与写作。现居上海和波士顿。
电影方面，他曾执导、拍摄并剪辑过纪录片、短篇故事片及时尚广告。他目前正与一位朋友合作一部短片。
笑语同时也是一名塔夫茨大学监狱教育计划（Tufts Prison Initiative）的助教。该计划在马萨诸塞州的中度安全级别监狱内开设大学课程。他还定期在波士顿的一处政府补贴公寓内为老年人提供志愿服务。
2025年，笑语与设计师/好友殷栢聖共同创办了《A1&A2》杂志。该刊每期聚焦两位作家，内容分为两部分，以实体形式分别呈现。每部分都包含一篇关于作者心中重要之人的随笔——可能是朋友、伴侣、需要向其弥补过失的人，或是需要向其道歉的人——并配有一系列与这段关系相关的实物。
闲暇时，他喜欢去公园和陌生人聊天。
